A Little About Me

My name is Matt VanOrmer, and I'm the guy behind all the words on this site. I'm a podcast junkie, tech nerd, hobbyist woodworker, and part-time Dungeon Master. I'm married to a very patient speech-pathologist named Kaitlin, and we have a black golden doodle named Evie.

I have a degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, moonlighted as a medical student for a semseter at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and now I'm pursuing my PhD at UNMC instead.

I started this site for a few reasons. First off, PhD students have to write a lot, and so I figured I may as well practice that skill by writing about something that suits my personal interests. Other than that, I've been generally interested in how technology shapes and (hopefully) improves our lives for quite some time and have wanted an outlet to share my thoughts on that topic — that, and a place to post articles about incredibly unnecessary Siri Shortcuts and hot takes on other topics as they pique my interest.

If you want to reach out to suggest a topic, ask a question, or just say hi you can follow @PeerReviewed_ on Twitter, or email me using this site's Contact page. If you're bored, you can find my personal Twitter @MattVanOrmer — though I don't promise that you will find any good tweets there. And if you're really feeling generous, you can always buy me a coffee.
